The journey to conception is a long, difficult road...
Infertility affects as many as 1 of 6 couples nationwide. Currently, most insurance companies will
offer infertility diagnosis, but not treatment. Because of the cost of infertility treatment, many couples
are being forced into childlessness or a lifetime of debt, just to have a chance to have a child.
If a national mandate cannot be established, every state needs one.  Such a mandate would require all
insurance companies to cover infertility diagnosis and treatment. 15 states currently have this
mandate, at the cost of $3 per member per year.

Help your state get this requirement by signing the petitions to show your support.
All people deserve to have families, regardless of income, employment, or status.

Please note that the focus of this site has changed. While we still strongly believe that Virginia
deserves an infertility mandate, we did not feel that it was fair to ignore all the other states. We will
now equally support a mandate in all states.

National Coverage.  Family Building Act of 2007
Family Building Act of 2007 (Adobe Acrobat required) was sponsored by Rep. Anthony Weiner
(D-New York) specifies that any "group health plan, and a health insurance issuer offering group
health insurance coverage provides coverage for obstetrical services, such plan or issuer shall include
(consistent with this section) coverage for treatment of infertility."
